1. Data Controller

The data controller is the Standing with Universities initiative, represented by the initiative’s coordinators.

2. Personal data we process

As part of the petition, we collect the following data:

• Full name
• Email address
• Institution (optional)
• Role – student, graduate, academic staff, etc. (optional)
• Message (optional)

This website contains no analytics or advertising code of its own. However, we use third-party services that may process certain technical data (see section 5).

Age limit: The form is intended for persons over the age of 15. Persons under 15 require parental consent for the processing of personal data.

3. Purpose and legal basis of processing

Petition

We process personal data entered in the signing form for the purpose of maintaining a list of signatories to the open letter and potentially passing this list to the addressee of the petition. The legal basis is your freely given and informed consent granted by ticking the relevant box in the form (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR).

Publication of name

The signatory’s full name will be published in the list of signatures on this website and may be passed to the addressee of the petition. You grant consent for publication by ticking the relevant box in the form. The email address will never be published.

If you wish to have your name removed from the published list, write to us at the contact email. We will remove your name without undue delay.

4. Data retention period

We retain personal data for the duration of the campaign and for a maximum of 12 months after its conclusion. After this period, the data is irreversibly deleted, unless the law provides otherwise.

5. Data recipients and third-party services

Data is not passed to third parties for commercial purposes. It may be passed to:

• The addressee of the open letter – in the form of a list of signatories’ names and institutions.
• Tally.so – podpisový formulář provozuje společnost Tally.so (USA) jako zpracovatel dat (datový procesor dle čl. 28 GDPR). Tally.so může při vyplňování formuláře ukládat cookies a zpracovávat data na svých serverech mimo EU/EHP. Předávání dat mimo EU/EHP se řídí standardními smluvními doložkami (SCC). • Google LLC – the website loads the Inter font from Google Fonts servers (fonts.googleapis.com). During this loading, your IP address may be shared with Google. More information: Google Privacy Policy.
• GitHub, Inc. – the website is hosted on the GitHub Pages platform. GitHub may process basic technical data (IP address) in accordance with its own privacy policy.

6. Your rights

As a data subject, you have the right:

• of access to your personal data (Art. 15 GDPR),
• of rectification of inaccurate or incomplete data (Art. 16 GDPR),
• of erasure (“right to be forgotten”) (Art. 17 GDPR),
• of restriction of processing (Art. 18 GDPR),
• of data portability (Art. 20 GDPR),
• to object to processing (Art. 21 GDPR),
• to withdraw consent at any time without giving reasons – withdrawal of consent does not affect the lawfulness of processing carried out before the withdrawal.

You may exercise your rights by email at stojimesuniverzitami@gmail.com. We will respond to your request without undue delay, within 30 days at the latest.

You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the supervisory authority – the Office for Personal Data Protection (ÚOOÚ).

7. Security

We take appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your personal data against unauthorised access, loss, or misuse. Communication with the server is encrypted via the HTTPS protocol.

This policy may be updated occasionally. The current version is always available on this page. Date of last update: 27 April 2026.
